Boost Efficiency and Save Costs with Dynamic Dies’ Flex Mounts

Jul 29, 2024 | News

Efficiency, adaptability, and cost-effectiveness are crucial for staying ahead. As a leader in the corrugated industry for over 50 years, Dynamic Dies continues to push the boundaries of innovation with its groundbreaking product, the Flex Mount.

Designed specifically for the corrugated market, this all-in-one solution addresses a common challenge by offering unparalleled flexibility and significant cost savings.

The Challenge: Plate Compatibility and Efficiency

One of the challenges in flexographic printing is the compatibility of printing plates with various presses. Traditional methods often required companies to purchase multiple sets of plates for different machines, leading to increased costs and downtime.

Jeff Francis, Global Production Manager at Dynamic Dies, sheds light on this issue: “We always have a customer who’s trying to move a set of plates from this machine to that machine. The short answer always has been, sorry, we can’t hook that up to your machine. The material’s too small, the material’s too big.”

The Solution: Dynamic Dies’ Flex Mounts

Dynamic Dies developed its proprietary Flex Mount system to solve these problems. This configurable solution allows for seamless plate transitions between different presses, including Standard, Bobst, and EVOL mounts. The Flex Mount is designed to be easily adjustable, enabling print houses to switch from one press to another without the need for additional plates.

For instance, switching from a standard mount to an EVOL mount is straightforward. “All you have to do is take off the lead and trail strips and slide on the EVOL strips on both sides of the mounting material,” Jeff elaborates. Similarly, transitioning from an EVOL mount to a Bobst full wrap mount involves sliding off the lead edge strips, adding an additional piece of material, and utilizing Dynamic Dies’ lead edge strips to secure the mounting material to the press.

Real-World Impact: Efficiency and Cost Savings

Traditionally, changing plate positions required sending plates back to the supplier, resulting in delays and additional shipping costs. The Flex Mount system drastically reduces downtime and eliminates the need for purchasing multiple sets of plates. These transitions can be accomplished in seconds on-site, significantly enhancing operational efficiency.

Jeff underscores this efficiency: “Traditionally, they’d have to send the plates back. You lose two days. Now, you can just do it yourself in a matter of seconds.”

Moreover, Dynamic Dies offers extension strips that can be easily added to plates for customers with varying press sizes. This ensures maximum utilization of existing plates, further reducing costs and enhancing flexibility.

Customizable Solutions for Unique Needs

Dynamic Dies understands that each customer has unique requirements. The Flex Mount system is highly customizable, with various sizes of optional material strips, clips, and trail edges available to suit different machines and printing needs. The team at Dynamic Dies works closely with customers to develop specific solutions tailored to their needs.

Jeff proudly states, “It’s a thought-out process worked through with our sales and production people. We ensure the end product is right the first time, providing a level of customer service that’s rare in the industry.”
