Faster, Smarter Digital Printing at Dynamic Dies

Jun 25, 2026 | Insights, News

At Dynamic Dies, we’re investing in technology and finding new ways to help customers move projects from concept to production faster and more efficiently. That’s why we recently completed an upgrade to our digital printing operation that is expected to significantly increase production speed while increasing capacity.

The enhancement centers on the addition of specialized “skis” that help keep sheets securely positioned as they move through the printer. Combined with ongoing system optimization, the upgrade will allow our team to print two sheets simultaneously, effectively doubling production speed.

We caught up with Russell Bush, Digital Production Manager, who has helped build and grow the company’s digital printing division during his 8 years at Dynamic Dies.

Q: What’s new with the digital printer?

A: We recently added skis to the printer that help hold the sheet down as it moves through the machine. It’s a relatively simple upgrade, but it’s going to make a huge difference. Once everything is fully dialed in, we’ll be able to run two sheets at a time and dramatically increase throughput.

Q: How will the upgrade impact production?

A: The biggest benefit is speed. Once we complete the final optimization work, we’ll be able to print two sheets simultaneously, which will essentially double our printing speed. That increased efficiency helps us serve customers faster and expand our overall capacity.

Q: Why is digital printing becoming such an important part of the industry?

A: People are moving more toward digital. The printers keep getting faster, and the applications continue to expand. Digital printing gives customers flexibility that traditional production methods can’t always provide, especially for shorter runs and specialized projects.

Q: What are some of the advantages of digital printing?

A: Flexibility is really the biggest advantage. You can run one sheet or 500 sheets. That’s where digital shines. Customers can produce prototypes, test-market programs, retail displays or short-run packaging without the setup requirements that come with larger production runs.

Q: What types of projects are coming through the digital department?

A: We produce a wide variety of corrugated packaging, displays and specialty projects. Some jobs involve short-run packaging, while others are point-of-purchase displays or promotional materials. Every day is a little different.

Q: How has the digital department evolved?

A: We’ve come a long way. Over the years, we’ve continued investing in equipment, people and processes as demand has grown. The technology keeps advancing, and we’re continuing to grow right along with it.

Q: What does this investment mean for Dynamic Dies customers?

A: It means greater efficiency, increased capacity and the ability to continue delivering the flexibility that customers are looking for. As digital printing continues to grow, we want to make sure we’re positioned to provide the best possible service and turnaround times.
